Producer Spotlight: Lazy Scientist Hot Sauces
We're absolutely buzzing to announce the latest addition to the Farmfetch range: Lazy Scientist, hailing from Brixton in southeast London. Lazy Scientist began with founder (and "Head Sauceror") Steve Rushton – a former pharmaceutical lab scientist turned teacher – whose long-standing love of chillies and fermentation gradually evolved into a truly unique small-batch hot sauce brand.
What started as experiments in flavour and heat became a full-fledged venture in 2018, and today, Lazy Scientist continues to focus on fresh ingredients, growing rare chillies and creating sauces that celebrate bold, layered flavour.

Why we love Lazy Scientist
Lazy Scientist stands out for its creative, flavour-first approach. Instead of simply chasing heat levels, Steve draws on fermentation, unusual chilli varieties, and inventive ingredients to build complexity – resulting in sauces that are vibrant, balanced and genuinely distinctive.
The brand has also grown organically within its local community, supplying brewery taprooms, indie retailers and London food lovers drawn to its craft ethos and experimental edge.
