Made with unpasteurised ewe’s milk with a vegetarian rennet, this semi-soft cheese has a complex and fruity richness with a delicate texture. Less acidic and slightly milder than a traditional brie, a washed-curd method combined with whey water replacement creates an almost fudge like texture. 

Not only was Wigmore named as one of just 100 cheeses to be awarded Super Gold at the 2023/24 World Cheese Awards, it was then selected by the Super Jury as one of the best 16 cheeses in the world.

Based in Berkshire, they craft award-winning cheeses like Wigmore, a rich and buttery sheep’s milk cheese, and Waterloo, a creamy, Guernsey cow’s milk cheese. Their handmade Spenwood, inspired by Pecorino, has also won acclaim. Using traditional methods and locally sourced milk, Village Maid focuses on quality and depth of flavour, earning multiple British and World Cheese Awards.
