Green Aspirations Scotland

1 product

Green Aspirations Scotland is a social enterprise, with the primary aim of helping people to reconnect with the Scottish woodlands; their fantastic lumpwood charcoal is one of their main income generating activities to support that noble cause. Made using sustainable local wood and traditional lumpwood charcoal production methods, they're aiming to vastly reduce the 98,000 tonnes of charcoal that we import into the UK every year - almost a quarter of which comes from countries at high risk of deforestation.

    Green Aspirations Scotland

Green Aspirations Scotland, a Community Interest Company founded in 2013, aims to reconnect people with nature through traditional woodland crafts and rural skills. They engage diverse groups, including community members, young adults, and vulnerable populations, in learning green woodworking and environmental stewardship. Their initiatives support social, environmental, and economic wellbeing.

A notable aspect of their work is the production of sustainable Scottish charcoal, which we're delighted to stock here at Farmfetch. Using wood from managed coppice sites and local sources, they create lumpwood charcoal via traditional earth burns and modern retort kilns. This method is eco-friendly, reduces deforestation, and supports local economies. The charcoal, easy to light and ideal for BBQs, is supplied to shops, restaurants, and individuals. Additionally, they produce high-quality drawing charcoal through their sister venture, Soul of Fire.
