FIDRA Gin

1 product

Founded in East Lothian by friends Emma and Jo, FIDRA Gin is a homage to the rugged landscape and local flavours of the island of Fidra - a tiny island off Scotland's southeast coast, thought to have been the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.

A recipe perfected in a 5-litre still is now an award-winning spirit, achieving silver medals in the World Gin Awards and London Spirits Competition as recently as 2024. As a testament to their love of Scotland, many of the botanical used to create FIDRA Gin are handpicked along the East Lothian coast.

    FIDRA Gin

FIDRA gin was founded by Emma Bouglet and Jo Brydie, friends from East Lothian on Scotland's south-east coast, driven by their passion to create a dry gin using local summer botanicals. They began their journey with a tiny five-litre copper pot still bought on eBay, perfecting their recipe during the winter of 2017-18. Seeking expertise, they collaborated with Walter Micklethwait at Inshriach in the Highlands to refine their production.

The name FIDRA is inspired by a small island off the East Lothian coast. Though Emma has since moved on, Jo continues to helm the brand, ensuring that FIDRA gin remains true to its roots. The gin is crafted in the Highlands using botanicals hand-picked by the sea, such as elderflower, rosehip, and sea buckthorn, reflecting the unique coastal landscape.

FIDRA gin quickly gained popularity, with their first commercial batch selling out rapidly. It is best enjoyed with tonic, ice, a slice of lemon, and a sprig of thyme. Future plans for FIDRA include the potential introduction of a higher-strength variant, continuing the legacy of this East Lothian inspired spirit.
