    Caradoc Charcoal

Caradoc Charcoal, based in the heart of Shropshire, is renowned for producing high-quality lumpwood charcoal from sustainable British hardwood. Using traditional methods to produce a superior charcoal, it's quick to light, low on smoke, and imparts a beautiful smoky flavour to your food.

Caradoc Charcoal’s commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of their production process - they source their wood from well-managed British woodlands, ensuring that only sustainable, locally-sourced timber is used. As well as producing a superior product, this also supports the protection of overseas woodlands - the majority of charcoal sold in the UK is sourced from unprotected, unsustainable woods in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa, causing huge damage to local wildlife.

The production process at Caradoc Charcoal is both artisanal and eco-friendly. Using traditional kilns, the wood is slowly heated in a low-oxygen environment - this method, known as slow pyrolysis, converts the wood into high-quality charcoal while preserving its natural properties. The result is a dense, long-burning lumpwood charcoal that provides excellent heat and flavour.
