Four Rivers Coffee Co source the beans for their Indonesian Muhlisin single origin coffee from a variety of small holders in the East Java region of Indonesia, an area that's ideal for coffee growing thanks to its rich volcanic soil.

Each bean is handpicked by the Muhlisin cooperative that gives the coffee its name, before being sorted for quality, fermented over 72 hours, and dried for a further 25 days to reach the ideal water content. Once delivered to Four Rivers' HQ in Hertford, they're roasted to order each Sunday, before being dispatched on Monday.

Every purchase helps to support the Muhlisin cooperative's goals of expanding education for their community members - constructing schools, funding teaching and cultivating future coffee producers.

Founded by Head Roaster Ashley during the height of COVID, Four Rivers Coffee Co is on a mission to make ethical, freshly roasted and high-quality speciality coffee accessible to the masses. Based in Hertford at the confluence of the rivers Lee, Rib, Mimran and Beane, Four Rivers Coffee Co go to great lengths to source their beans ethically from farmers around the world, helping to supporting their local communities. Each bean is then roasted to order at their Hertford HQ in their very own micro-roastery.
